At the beginning of COVID-19, The Cookie Cups (like many local businesses) closed its doors for in-store service for about two months. When we reopened in late May, we weren’t sure what our popular birthday parties might look like...or if we could host them at all.

While we initially held off on booking private in-store events, we’ve recently resumed scheduling birthday parties through the rest of 2020 and beyond. However, we have some new protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of you and your guests.

Here’s what you need to know about hosting birthday parties at The Cookie Cups for the foreseeable future.

What’s changing about our birthday parties during COVID-19

We now have a strict guest limit of 6 per party.

Previously, our in-store birthday parties at Navarre and Chanhassen could accommodate up to 15 children. To comply with social distancing guidelines, we are now limiting the number of guests to 6 per party, and the number of on-site staff to 3.

The great thing about smaller parties? Each child in attendance gets more personalized attention and guidance from our cooking and baking instructors!

Masks are required for staff and guests (except when eating and drinking).

Per Minnesota state law, all staff and guests at a Cookie Cups birthday parties must wear a mask or face covering while inside either of our bakeries, including during food preparation. Of course, guests can remove their masks when enjoying the delicious treats they’ve created during the party!

What’s staying the same

Although we now have a lower guest count limit and face covering requirements, everything you love about The Cookie Cups birthday parties is still the same!

When you book a private party at our store, you’ll enjoy:

  • Exclusive use of our store for the duration of your 2-3 hour event.
  • Your choice of Pizza Making, Cookie Baking/Decorating, or Taco Making as the theme for the party.
  • Individual equipment and ingredients for each guest.
  • Carefully supervised instruction and food service from our friendly, knowledgeable staff.
  • Accommodations for dietary restrictions such as gluten-free and vegetarian diets.

How to book your private event at The Cookie Cups

Private events must be booked at least 30 days in advance. Once you confirm your date with us, we will request a $100 deposit to hold your event, with the balance due at the conclusion of your party.

When you’re ready to schedule your party, call our store at 952-471-2432 or email with all your event details. We look forward to helping you plan your perfect celebration at The Cookie Cups!
