Valentine's Day is around the corner, and it's the perfect time to show that special person in your life how much you care. Instead of the usual flowers and chocolates, why not sign you and your partner up for a romantic couple's activity right here in the Minneapolis area?

Check out our Valentine's Day gift guide for some fun, local experiences you can enjoy together.

1. A wine or beer tasting at North Loop Wine & Spirits

Whether you consider yourselves wine and beer connoisseurs, or just enjoy sharing a drink together, a wine or beer tasting is always a great casual outing. North Loop Wine & Spirits in Minneapolis offers beer samplings on Tuesday evenings, if you’re celebrating during the week. They also have wine tastings on Friday and Saturday evenings, which is perfect if you’re planning to celebrate on the weekend.

You can ask the experts for their recommendations – or browse their extensive collection of wine, beer and spirits to continue the celebration after the tasting.

2. A scenic flight over the Twin Cities

There’s nothing more romantic than a sunset, and what better way to experience it than a scenic flight over the Twin Cities? Thunderbird Aviation offers a variety of flight packages, including a Romantic Flight Package that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day.

You and your sweetheart can enjoy the sights of the Minnesota sunset and the twinkling lights of Minneapolis and St. Paul -- Thunderbird Aviation will take care of everything else. The package includes a 30-minute panoramic flight, luxury car transportation, and a $100 gift card to a restaurant of your choice (options vary by location – Flying Cloud or Crystal).

3. A couple's spa day

If you’re looking to pamper your partner (and yourself!), a couple’s spa day can be just what you need. The Woodhouse Day Spa in Maple Grove offers a variety of individual services, including skincare and body treatments, massage therapy, and mani-pedis.

You can select one or several services of your choice, or you can spend the day at the spa with a bundled spa package. They offer several packages, but for couples we recommend the “Unwind, Valentine” package, which includes Therapeutic Stone Massages and Illuminating Facials for two.

4. A couple's cooking class at The Cookie Cups

Do you and your partner love to cook? Is food your love language? Sign up for our couple’s Valentine's Day appetizer cooking class on February 15 in Chanhassen.

Whether you’re both beginners in the kitchen or experienced home chefs, you’ll enjoy creating (and eating) delicious appetizers with our expert instructor, including Honey Ricotta Bruschetta, Maple Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, Mediterranean Stuffed Mini Peppers, and Chocolate Dipped Strawberries for dessert. Your ticket also includes a specialty drink from our café and a Cookie Cup pack to take home with you for dessert.

We hope this list has inspired you to try an experience gift this Valentine's Day. But no matter how you choose to spend the day, remember that it’s all about celebrating the love between you and your sweetheart. Happy Valentine’s Day!
