Celebrate St. Patty’s the Twin Cities Way!

With March 17th approaching, you’re probably searching your closet for all things green and thinking up tasty green treats to make.

There are plenty of ways to celebrate the luck of the Irish right here in the Minneapolis area, happening all month long. Whether you’re looking for family-friendly fun or something just for the adults, there are local St. Patrick’s Day events for everyone this year. 

Here are some fun events throughout March to help you and yours to celebrate St. Patty’s Day the Twin Cities way. Don’t forget to pre-order a party pack of green Cookie Cups on the way to your holiday celebration!

1. Get Lucky Races 

The Monster Race Series is hosting multiple races and providing a refreshing cold beer at the finish line. Choose from the 7K, 14K, or half marathon. All adult registrations receive a Vintage Get Lucky Pullover or a Vintage Get Lucky Hoodie with finishers earning a medal and a head/neck warmer for their jobs-well-done. Grab the family and dress in your best Irish running gear for a fun St. Patrick’s Day exercise!

2. Shamrock'n Brunch 

Featuring delicious traditional Irish fare, United Way of 1000 Lakes is hosting the Shamrock’n Brunch at the Pickled Loon! Participate in raffles, prize and gift basket giveaways, with all proceeds benefiting United Way programs and initiatives. Enjoy live music featuring Mckeon Hugh Roberts, Jed Laplant and Eagle Nest Band!

  • Time: 8 am to 1 pm
  • Location: The Pickled Loon, Grand Rapids, MN
  • Price: $25 for adults; $10 for kids under 12

3. A Day of Irish Dance 

Part of Landmark Center’s two-day celebration, “All Things Irish,” A Day of Irish Dance is hosted by the Irish Music & Dance Association. The event will feature authentic Irish dancing and entertainment, including special seminars and theatrical productions to learn more about traditional dance. There’s optional programs for sensory sensitive audience members as well as a quiet room for overly-stimulated little ones. Bring the whole family and dance the night away!

4. St. Paul Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade 

The St. Paul St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns for its 54th year in downtown Saint Paul. Sponsored by the St. Patrick’s Association, the 100% volunteer-run parade donates extra earnings to local charities. Dress in your best green get-up to watch this much anticipated event!

  • Time: 12 pm
  • Location: Downtown St. Paul
  • Price: Free admission

5. Minneapolis Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade 

Celebrating 51 years of Irish pride, the Minneapolis St. Patrick’s Association is holding its Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade later in the evening on the 17th. One of the most celebrated parades in the Twin Cities area, this parade is sure to be filled with fun and creative floats the whole family will enjoy. Make sure to check out the 2020 Blarney Blast afterparty at Finnegan’s Brew Company!

  • Date: Tuesday, March 17
  • Time: 6:30 pm
  • Location: Along Nicollet Mall, beginning at 6th St and ending on 11th St.
  • Price: Free admission or $25 to participate in the parade!

6. Celtic Festival 

The 17th Annual Celtic Festival is filled with theatrical performances, live music and activity booths featuring the rich cultures of seven Celtic nations. Try delicious Celtic foods, watch traditional Irish dancing and learn folk traditions all at this larger-than-life festival!

  • Time: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Location: Hjemkomst Center, Moorhead, MN
  • Price: All exhibits, performances and activities are free except for the Activity Passport ($3)

7. Irish Brunch Cooking Class 

Can’t get enough of the St. Patty’s Day spirit? Head to The Cookie Cups for a cooking class filled with Irish favorites! Learn how to make traditional Irish soda bread, corned beef hash, and more. Bring the whole family to celebrate these authentic Irish dishes, and use your new skills to impress your guests at your next get-together!

  • Time: 12 pm to 2 pm
  • Location: The Cookie Cups Chanhassen (Market Square)
  • Price: $40 per person
