How to Plan Your Perfect Galentine’s Day Party

Nicole Fallon

galentine's day party

You might be used to celebrating Valentine's Day, but what about Galentine's Day? What started as a fictional pop culture "holiday" (thank you, Leslie Knope) has become a day for women to celebrate female friendship and honor the special ladies in their life.

No matter your romantic relationship status, make the most of the day before Valentine’s Day to kick back and let loose with your closest girlfriends. Here are a few fun ideas for a Galentine's Day party this February 13th.

Organize a Secret Galentine exchange

Similar to a Secret Santa exchange, have your guests bring an inexpensive item to anonymously gift to another person in your group. You can even choose names beforehand so your gals can choose one-of-a-kind gifts. (By the way, a Cookie Cups Bucket Bouquet or bag of Gourmet Coffee is the perfect gift for a Galentine’s exchange!)

Have a heart-shaped potluck

Ask your guests to bring their favorite treats inspired by hearts. Be sure to put suggestions on your sign-up list for heart-shaped items including classic chocolate covered strawberries, heart cupcakes, or heart-shaped pizza.

Plan a spa day

Break out the face masks and cucumber slices! Have everyone bring their fuzzy robe, slippers, and favorite nail polish. Be sure to have a few easy-to-eat goodies around for when the nails are drying and laughter is flowing.

Indulge in some “girl power” entertainment

Stream some classics about female friendship, like Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and Bridesmaids. You can also create a playlist of girl power songs as your Galentine’s Day soundtrack.

Have a paint night

Get everyone’s creativity flowing with a paint and sip party. You can find a class to attend, or bring the fun home by picking up some painting supplies, canvases, and a bottle (or two) of wine. Pick a prompt like  “paint what makes you the happiest” or “paint your favorite vacation spot.” Be sure to lay out newspaper or an old blanket to catch any mess!

Take a cooking class with your girls

If you and your gals love cooking and eating delicious food, you won’t want to miss our Galentine’s Day Sweets & Eats class on February 12 (4 to 6 p.m.). Learn how to create mouthwatering appetizers like Lemon Pepper Hummus with Homemade Pita Chips, Bacon Wrapped Figs, and Guacamole Deviled Eggs. Finish out the evening with some decadent Dark Chocolate Truffles.

Can’t make it to the Sweets & Eats class? Gather five or more of your closest friends any time of the year to book your own private cooking class at Cookie Cups! We’ll work with you to create a custom menu for a unique experience you and your friends will cherish.

Remember to stop by The Cookie Cups for some Galentine’s (or Valentine’s) treats to spread the love this month! With our collection of holiday-themed Valentine’s gifts, you’re sure to find something for all the special people in your life.
